  • Since when do staffing agencies care about EITHER nurses or their patients? In my experience PROFIT by any means is all that matters to these companies.

Try doing a little exploring on some of the web sites put up by staffing agencies, facilities and home hospice companies. There is typically one page or area to attract new employees, one to sell the product to customers and another to market to potential investors. The page for investors often times gets to the true motive and operating principals of the company.

I am currently working for a staffing agency which made a ton of "Promises" including referal bonuses and a chance to orient to all new facilities. In fact I routinely went to facilities unorienteed and in one hospital which was using a computerized med admin system I was repeatedly told not to go early to obtain an access code, not to mention any orientation. According to the "motivated" and "positive" staffer the code would be waiting when I arrived. It was two and a half hours into the shift before I could access any meds, or begin using a system which was new to me. In the mean time my patients went without pain control or other meds. The rest of the unit was pretty busy and to be honest the charge RN was a little apathetic.

Positive motivation and morale are great buy hype, denial of responsibility and delusionalness are pretty dysfunctional, dangerous and hurtful in Health Care both to providers and patients.

    Thanks for the SPAM!!!!
